pics of Jensen production of Volvo P1800 at West Bromwich
Hello
I recently purchased the book "Volvo P1800 - from idea to prototype and production-", a fantastic tribute from Mats Ericsson and Kenneth Collander to this superb classic
I thought it would be interesting to post here a few pictures of the Jensen production history in 1960-63; of course copyrights to the above gentlemen
the legends speak for themselves

Very cool Rolando.

This then would be Bay 9, although it looks as at least two bays were dedicated to the Volvo?

Re: pics of Jensen production of Volvo P1800 at West Bromwic
great pic Felix, and maybe my post would be better blended into yours
I think a "bay" may have in reality 2 "alleys" , which seems the case on the P1800 production line, so might well cope within bay9 only

I think you're right that a bay can have two alleys. On this picture 3 alleys in two bays are visible:

Re: pics of Jensen production of Volvo P1800 at West Bromwic
one funny thing is that there were only 4 available colours at the time for the P1800: black, white, red, grey (despite the fact that jensen could do many more, which they did for their own cars)
close to Fordism !
mine was painted in blue/green at some stage, which is not the original (white) color but one of the later P1800E colors
after a long deliberation with myself, I decided to switch it to red (here on its way to my friend's professional paintshop)

I tried to translate the pictures into a plan. Not sure about the dimensions of the factory hall itself:

Just for the record the photo titled "The facade of Jensen Motors Ltd. on Kelvin Way, West Bromwich" is of course Carters Green not Kelvin Way.

Difficult to get a comprehension of the whole layout, maybe it is something like this:
