This tour will take in parts of the Mendip Hills and some of the many highlights such as the historic locations of Wells, Cheddar and the gorges of Burrington and Cheddar.
Outline Itinerary:
21st April – Friday – Arrival to the Double Tree By Hilton, Cadbury House Hotel, Congresbury, North Somerset. You are free to plan for other accommodation; just this is the most convenient for the two days start. Evening meal is open to whatever you wish to do….suggestions will be forthcoming depending on numbers staying as to non-hotel options.
22nd April – Saturday – Tour starting from hotel to include the winding Mendip Hills and Gorges, local lakes and reservoirs, Wells Cathedral and of course the home of Cheddar Cheese. There is also being planned a tour of Thatcher’s Cider Farm with tasting before the tour ends with an opportunity for an end of day drink, socialise and meal in the Railway Inn next to Thatcher’s before heading back to the hotel(s) and for local Wessex members to get home. (Any drinks or meals are not included in the tour price)
23rd April – Sunday – Today we will be joining the BRIMAR Lions charity tour which has a £12.00 per car entry fee that goes to charity. This tour starts next door to the hotel and will cover the back roads around North West Somerset and end up on Clevedon Sea Front, which means easy access to the M5 etc when this day finishes at approximately 4:00pm. This day’s routes are not pre announced and you will on get it on arrival at the day of the event, so we hope your direction reading skills are OK. This is the “Drive day” and so the event is always well supported with over 100 cars of different ages – the JOC is being welcomed with open arms and the organisers have indicated that we will endeavor to get media exposure with the press that feature the event.
