541 60th Birthday

Big Anniversary Event

Planning is now well underway for a major 541 event in 2014. It will be 60 years since 1954 – so what?

Well, in October 1953 the Earl’s Court Motor Show was the launch event for the new alloy bodied 2 door GT by Jensen Motors. One year later, at the 1954 show the 541 was re-launched, this time with fibre glass bodywork, and a selection of noteworthy optional extras. The Chassis data book tells us that the first production 541 was invoiced by the factory on the 1st January 1955. So with support from the Jensen Owners’ Club committee, we have decided to celebrate the 60th birthday party in 2014.

The planned event will start near Stratford-on-Avon on 1st August 2014 where we hope to arrange dinner, bed and breakfast in a car friendly hotel. Saturday, 2nd August will involve a scenic drive around the local countryside which will include local attractions and shopping opportunities – details to be confirmed. On Saturday evening we will hold a gala dinner to celebrate this major 541 birthday in style. And finally, on Sunday, 3rd August, we have provisionally booked the” small arena” (up to 100 cars) for a Jensen only parking area outside the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon. 2014 is also the 21st birthday of the museum.

So, please reserve this weekend in your diaries – all Jensens, Jensen owners, (including ex Jensen owners) and their families will be made welcome. Further details will be published in the JOC Magazine and on the JOC Forum as they become available. We will be writing to all known and last recorded owners of 541 cars to encourage their participation.

A final reminder of the dates – the 1st to 3rd August 2014.
